Melanie, The Black Death

I was watching Osmosis Jones yesterday. I really like that movie, if only for the character designs. 'Specially Thrax. He's awesome. Anyway, soon after, while finding fanart on good ol' DA, I came across the group Some of the characters in there inspired me, so I put together a written explanation of some of my favorite diseases (yeah, I'm weird) and what I thought they'd look like.

As strange as it may sound, the Bubonic Plague is one of my favorite diseases. I've always found it fascinating. So I drew up Melanie here. I was thinking, for the name, that it should have to do with the color black. So why not Melanie, coming from the word melanin, the pigment in skin that turns normal leopards, jaguars, and cougars into black panthers and does much the same with other animals. I also made her have the relatively see-through membrane like the white blood cells in Osmosis Jones because it looks cool. No other reason.

Anyway, coming up we have Ramyx (Mumps), Bella (German Measles (Rubella)), Harus (West Nile Virus), Delerium (Viral Meningitis), Malcolm (Hemorrhagic Smallpox), Elisse (Lassa Fever), and Swahili (Dengue Fever).
